Adbusters might advocate to turn off your tv once a year for a day. Apparently this person was through with their relationship all together. When I found this tv discarded behind a strip mall in Newark, DE it had been worked over quite a bit. The screen was cracked, the cover was missing significant portions of plastic and the tube had been blown. I was reminded of the scene from Office Space when a fax machine met a similar fate. I had no idea how thick the glass in a television set actually was. No wonder televisions are so heavy with half inch glass.
The best snap I took of the television set was looking through the screen from behind. I put my camera as far inside the set as possible. The image captured the burnt phosphors and leaked light of a deceased tv. The textures and speckled greys make this a fun snap.
